In order to honor God through our giving, our giving should cost us something. In the words of King David, “I will not sacrifice to the Lord my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing” (2 Samuel 24:24). In order to be able to give in a way that costs us something, we need to make Jesus our first priority. Giving the Lord our first fruits rather than our leftovers reflects the priority that we give to the Lord. If we choose to give God our leftovers or only a small token amount, we dishonor Him. God, who has created and redeemed us, deserves our first and best. For more information on stewardship, contact Max Buban.
About this blog
Welcome to my running online dialog on matters of our life together in faith community at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church—where the grace of Christ Jesus our Lord engages each of us and, in turn, sends us out to engage others with that grace as well. I look forward to learning and growing together.
