In discussing tithing, giving ten percent of our incomes, the question that is often asked is, “Should my giving be based on my gross or net income?” Proverbs 3:9 will help us answer that question: “Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops.” Based on this as well as other verses, we can understand that the tithe should be based on our gross incomes. The reference to “your wealth” implies that we need to honor God with all that we have. For more on stewardship, please contact Max Buban.
About this blog
Welcome to my running online dialog on matters of our life together in faith community at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church—where the grace of Christ Jesus our Lord engages each of us and, in turn, sends us out to engage others with that grace as well. I look forward to learning and growing together.
