Love is the fundamental motive for Christian stewardship. Our giving may be systematic, proportionate, and generous, but if not motivated by love it is not Christian giving. Paul wrote, If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing (1 Corinthians 13:3). The Pharisees gave large gifts, yet their gifts were not acceptable to the Lord. Jesus sums up all the Law, which includes stewardship, as love to God and one’s neighbor. The perfect relationship that should exist between us, as stewards, and God is expressed in the word “love”. It also expresses the relationship that should exist between Christian stewards and their neighbors. For more info on stewardship, please contact Max Buban.
About this blog
Welcome to my running online dialog on matters of our life together in faith community at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church—where the grace of Christ Jesus our Lord engages each of us and, in turn, sends us out to engage others with that grace as well. I look forward to learning and growing together.
