On Saturday, October 8, Hurricane Matthew passed through the beautiful woods of Camp Agape in North Carolina and left its mark. Over 10 inches of rain flooded streams, the swamp, and the floodplain, lifting and moving boardwalks and bridges from their foundations. The combination of wind and rain brought down trees across trails, streams and benches in the amphitheater.
Holy Trinity’s high school youth group enjoyed a mission trip to Kure Beach and the Wilmington, NC area about 10 years ago while staying at this great camp. Now the camp needs our help.
Do you have a chain saw? A leaf blower? Time that you could donate to helping clean things up for all the scheduled guests and events that are planned for the rest of the year?
There are opportunities for debris removal & repair, putting boardwalks back in place, sawing downed trees, and replacing rocks alongside trails. If you can help, they can put you to work Sunday evenings through Thursday mornings while also providing housing and some meals. Please contact Randy at Camp Agape at 919-552-9421 or firstname.lastname@example.org for more information or to sign up. “Many hands make light work…”
